King + Cross Company is an employee owned creative services, marketing and Christian products distribution company. LNB’s challenge was to create a pleasant, updated, open work space with a fresh feel and lots of color, art and graphics. Most of all the design goal was for every single person to embrace the new space as a purposeful product to “lift up and encourage the body of Christ” by use of a nontraditional aesthetic. LNB’s concept was to transform the typical suburban two-story office space by creating an axis with an illuminated recessed wall cross at the lobby end with radiating floor and ceiling treatments expanding into the office areas. The other end of the axis was emphasized by a circular moss wall that was made to represent the earth, illustrating the connection between us and our faith. Design elements such as the angles of the ceiling and walls were used to subtly bring the visual focus from any part of the office, back to the cross.
