The renovation of Claymont Center was an ambitious project, encompassing a complete exterior overhaul of an existing retail strip center spanning 79,423 square feet across 12 acres. Much of the building’s outdated facade and covered walkways was removed. In their place, the design team introduced striking architectural elements featuring newly imagined tower and gable elements that gives design consistency to the 800-foot-long facade. The new exterior boasts a blend of Dryvit stucco, Nichiha panels, Hardie Board, and metal roofing that’s created a contemporary, yet inviting, aesthetic.

Beyond the building’s facade, the renovation involved substantial infrastructure improvements. The concrete at the covered walkways was replaced, modernized lighting was installed, and the main asphalt drive lane was repaved and enlivened with new planting beds. New signage for the tenants was added as well as a new monument sign at the entrance. These enhancements not only improved the center’s appearance but also increased safety and accessibility for visitors.
